5 Things Fans Should Get On Board With This Star Wars Day

On Star Wars Day this year, as fans celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first ever Star Wars film, Star Wars: A New Hope, back in 1977, while anticipating the upcoming chapter, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, later this year, not to mention, the stand-alone Han Solo film after that… We have searched the galaxies near and far, far away, for some Star Wars-themed collectibles that will shake up a disturbance (the good kind) in the Force.

Royal Selangor Limited Edition Gold Plated Millennium Falcon

In commemoration of the 40 years of Star Wars, Royal Selangor has released a limited edition gold plated Millennium Falcon, available exclusively online here. The model is limited to only 200 pieces worldwide, and features retractable landing gears, with heat exhaust vents and oversized top-of-the-line sensor dish that is true to its form in the films.

Also available are the TIE Fighter, an iconic symbol to the Imperial fleet with its startling details of the rigid bands of the solar energy collectors, and the intricate construction of the energy grid monitors; and the Lightsaber document holder, modelled after the lightsaber Luke Skywalker received from Obi-Wan Kenobi, with the ridged handgrip and unique technical interface.

William Shakespeare’s The Force Doth Awakens by Ian Doescher

From the author who is responsible for the parodied William Shakespeare’s Star Wars Trilogy book series, comes the next chapter that mirrors after the Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens movie in 16th-century Shakespearean verse. Set for a release date on 3 October, The Force Doth Awakens features Elizabethan verses and Shakespearian monologues for key characters from the film, such as Rey, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Damaron, whilst the Supreme Leader Snoke gets his own soliloquy.

Devon Star Wars Special Edition Timepiece

Renowned for the brand’s patented system of interwoven Time Belts that displays the hours, minutes and seconds, the Devon special edition Star Wars piece incorporates the key elements of Darth Vader and the TIE Fighter: the wings of the TIE Fighter spacecraft spans on either side of the bold, rectangular case, while the pointed silver screws emulate the ones on the Galactic Emperor’s helmet. The timepiece is created in all black DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon Coating) on stainless steel, enhancing the masterfully engineered Time Belts that establishes the brand’s pioneering vision in the artistry of watch design.

Matchless Heroes Limited Edition: Star Wars

The Star Wars T-shirts and other wearables from various high street brands are cute and all, and they prove your allegiance to George Lucas’ works, but they are no match compared to these leather jackets from Matchless. Big boys (and girls) of Star Wars should invest in one of these limited edition jackets with grown up price tags that drew inspiration from the expansive wardrobe archives of the Star Wars films. The collection includes the TIE Fighter Blouson with studded storm flap hides, the Han Solo Jacket with magnetic closures and ammunition holders, and the Skywalker Jacket in suede with styled pockets on the front, sides and sleeves.

Star Wars Day: May The 4th Be With You Festival

It is not truly a celebration of the commemorative day if there are no festivals that you can patronise to get your “geekdom” on. So, if you have yet to make plans for Star Wars Day, you might want to swing by Singapore from today till 6 May, where a three-day Star Wars Day Festival is happening at Gardens by the Bay.

All kinds of fan activities will be taking place, as Chewbacca, Kylo Ren and even the iconic All-Terrain Scout Transport (AT-ST Walker) make their special appearances at the festival. Come nightfall, fans are treated to a Garden Rhapsody which features a music and light show of the Star Wars original soundtracks amongst the SaberTrees at the Supertree Grove. Along with a thematic Silent Disco session, an outdoor screening of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and a night run, check out the full schedule of events here.

Last but definitely not the least, here is the teaser trailer (again) for the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi, in cinemas 15 December.
