The Gentleman Strides at Burberry Prorsum Menswear Autumn Winter 2012

It has been declared that Autumn Winter 2012 is the season of the suit and it was none other than Christopher Bailey for Burberry Prorsum who set the tone with his take on the menswear staple. Opening the show were charcoal suits in single- and double-breasted variations in extremely streamlined silhouettes paired with drain pipe trousers that fit snugly through the leg down to the ankles. Burberry's military-inspired legacy was reflected in tailored outerwear that included double-breasted Chesterfield coats and cropped bomber jackets in classic English herringbone and houndstooth while beautiful pops of colour were captured in the geometrical patterns woven into funnel-necked and shawl-collared sweaters. The most coveted accessories of the show were undoubtedly the duck-handled umbrellas and the leather-studded gloves which we bet will be flying off the shelves come July. As for the bags, document cases in multi-hued patchwork and studded leather will be the "it" bags for the season, although we personally love the elephant print leather holdall available in lovely fall shades of rich burgundy and dark marigold. If you like what you see, you'll be thrilled to know that outerwear and bags from the Autumn Winter 2012 collection are available for sale on the Burberry website until 22 January 2012. The suede document cases are retailing for S$$2,395, and if you're feeling particular flash, the studded version is available from S$6,895 and will arrive after Chinese New Year.
